Claude AI versus Chatter G.

I've been a fan of ChattyG from the jump. My business coach Chris Do and my coaching cohort were all discussing its relevance when it launched back in 2022. Our focus was on how to engage with these tools in a way that enhanced creativity rather than replaced it. But platform fatigue is real and instead of achieving results with the right tools, I can find myself subscribing to so many platforms it's paralyzing. So when i first heard of Claude AI, I was a hard pass.

Recently I've been paring down my monthly business subscriptions (AI and otherwise) and focusing on the tools most in line with my business growth. Breaking up with ChatGPT and chasing after Claude felt less like a necessity and more like a “grass is always greener” response to the sudden influx of available ai tools. And to be honest ChatGPT was already delivering me more value than I expected while building my business. But after watering my own lawn a bit and then digging into Claude’s coding capabilities, I made the switch.

The argument for either platform really echoes the old Mac versus PC debate, or any binary situation where your preference tends to align with what you ultimately choose. Just like a PC, ChatGPT is a super useful tool! I just personally think a Mac is sexier. And if you’ll pardon my anthropomorphizing AI platforms, I think Claude is a bit sexier too. But not for the reasons you might think. Not for the smart ad campaigns, the warm interface or Dario Amodei’s current ethical stance on AI’s use in autonomous weapons or mass domestic surveillance. Which to be clear, I do appreciate.

However, what actually tipped the scales back when I switched over, was Chatty started agreeing with me way too much. And that constant agreement eroded my trust in the tool. I have a lot of ideas and while I appreciate the enthusiasm, believe me, not all my ideas are good ones.

I am neurodivergent. I struggle with focus. What I don’t struggle with are ideas (good ones and bad ones). Claude brings a more nuanced approach to my queries and the feedback it responds with. The layout is cleaner and the built in guardrails around how it sources things feels intentional. Most importantly, rather than letting my ideation phase run wild it redirects my attention back to action items and manageable tasks. Often telling me, “that’s a great idea, but you have a lot going on. What do you think about handling your current workload before going down a divergent path.”

As a business owner Claude solved more than a personal preference problem. It’s resolved real friction I didn’t have language for. It’s helped me clarify which of my ideas are worth exploring further and then helped me bring those ideas to life. It’s also cautioned me to pause and put aside ideas that distract me from my goals. It’s like a super honest assistant who can multitask and isn’t afraid of hurting my feelings.

Using a hammer won’t get a screw out. When you use the right tools you increase efficiency. When you explore other platforms you open up your knowledge base and learn what fits you best. So while I am still on a quest to decrease my monthly business platform spend, I am more open to intermittently exploring new tools to grow my business and making changes as they feel necessary and appropriate.
