Shannon Kelli has been making pictures for seventeen years.
She founded Shannon Kelli Pictures in 2015 and runs the studio out of a space on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley. Her work is built around a simple idea: that a good photograph should communicate something true about the person or place in front of the lens. It's a belief that shapes everything from how she lights a corporate professional portrait to how she researches a photography assignment.
Shannon studied Rhetoric at UC Berkeley with a focus on Narrative and Image, a foundation that informs how she thinks about visual communication for clients. Her studio's institutional partners include Sidley Austin LLP, where she has photographed more than 100 attorneys across the Berkeley and Palo Alto locations, along with Goodman Neuman Hamilton LLP, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Zillow and The Berkeley School, a relationship now in its eleventh year. Shannon Kelli Pictures is a SAM.gov certified Woman-Owned Small Business and serves clients across law, healthcare, biotech, consulting and the broader Bay Area professional community.
Outside the commercial studio, Shannon maintains an active fine art practice focusing on botanical photography. Her work appears annually at East Bay Open Studios, and in late 2026 she'll be in residence at Atelier AIR at Château de Cerisay in Normandy, France, where she'll be developing a hybrid photography and oil painting practice.
She lives in Berkeley with her family, where her garden, her children’s sporting schedules (mountain biking, volleyball and tennis) and her studio calendar coexist in a state of productive tension. And she desperately needs to update her professional portrait. She’s truly a shoe makers daughter right now.
